It's definitely not a Wonder Gecko, though it may be a Stenodactylus, I've yet to find an image of it. If it helps, I've actually observed these geckos changing colour. The specimen in the photo is actually rather pale- I've caught some that were so dark that their spots were barely visible. After a few minutes however, they've turned grey! I've never heard of any other gecko doing this.

If dandoucette's suggestion doesn't work out, how about one of the wonder geckos, Teratoscincus? Just based on the fact I've seen them in the UAE.

It's definitely not a Leopard Gecko, I know what they look like. Besides, I don't think they live in Bahrain... And thanks Alice!
