thanks for the ID Latimeria. I have seen wheel bugs in my yard later in the season.

I'm pretty sure that's a wheel bug nymph. The red abdomen gives them away. When they're adults, they grow to be the largest terrestrial bugs in North America, about 1.25 inches long.
