Gymnopilus Mushroom

Gymnopilus sp.

Description:

Gymnopilus nevadensis-penetrans clade. At first glance, these appeared to be bracket fungi. When I looked underneath, I saw they each had a stipe (stem) and gills. Dry, rusty orange mushroom loosely scattered on this log.

Habitat:

On a decomposing log at the beginning of the Churchhouse Hammock Trail around pine trees and sabal palm.
