Thanks for your ID suggestion Kristen! I'll take it on. A much better match than any of the Hesperiidae. Some individuals on these pictures are virtually identical to mine. I've used the eurobutterflies.com site before and it's fantastic!

Alice, I went through a whole list of European Hesperiidae. It comes close to a checkered skipper but I not convinced...

It comes fromthe Checkered Butterfly group, but I can't get a handle.
