Burning Bush

Dictamnus albus

Description:

Stems are topped by terminal racemes of fragrant, 5-petaled light pink flowers that have darker pink stripes.

Habitat:

Spotted near the edge of a meadow in a native plant garden.

Notes:

In hot weather, old flowers emit a flammable oil, which can be ignited - resulting in a brief vapor burn that is harmless to the plant.
