Wanderer or Monarch butterfly

Danaus plexippus

Description:

The wingspan of the Wanderer butterfly is about 90mm. It is found in tropical as well as temperate climates. The Wanderer is a powerful flyer and is capable of flying across oceans and continents. It is one of the longest living butterflies with a lifespan of 8-9 months. This is due to its strong wings and body and because its predators leave it alone because it's poisonous and not tasty. The Wanderer Butterfly's plantfood include milkweed, swan plants and cotton bushes.
