Giant anteater

Myrmecophaga tridactyla

Description:

A giant anteater cub.

Habitat:

Tropical rainforest.

Notes:

I found this cub in a restaurant at the border of Laguna Yarinacocha, I fear for the mother's safety, though, for we did not see any sign of her.

Ohhhhhhhh my g´d You are so lucky... to see that specie, I saw one more than 30 year ago, that is probably the most endangered mammal in Costa Rica

I am afraid it wasn't, though the restaurant was at the open at the border of a lake in the jungle. It was kept within its gates. I still wonder where its mother was.

Sorry, I didn't see your notes. You found this in a restuarant? Any more details?
