pole bean

Phaseolus coccineus

Description:

Commonly known as "runner bean", usually scarlet in color according to wiki.

Habitat:

domestic garden

Notes:

Ours are a hybrid and called "blue lake" pole beans.. They grow extremely well, and even with 6' teepees to climb are searching ever higher. Unlike the snap peas we are growing which slowly develop and fatten as they grow bigger. The beans appear to be "born" from the flower exactly as they will look at 8" in length, just very very tiny versions of the finished product. Im sure theres a scientific term for this.. but im just a wanna be farmer. :) Beautiful little silky white flowers, that i could take pictures of all day.
