It must not have been rare, if they are using it as hog feed! Such a cool plant to feed to the pigs. I guess you're going to have to look hard when you go back home again.

Wow! Thanks dandoucette. I always thought that the whole thing is the flower. People in the Philippines say that this plant is not actually rare. I haven't seen one though. Maybe when I visit home.

Actually Amorphophallus (notably A. titanum) are known as having the largest inflorescences in the world, not the largest flower. That title rests with the Rafflesia species. The flowers on Amorphophallus are really, really small and there can be hundreds or more of them.
