Red-bellied snake

Storeria occipitomaculata

Description:

Redish brown snake with slightly darker stripes lengthwise with salmon-coloured belly. About 35cm (14 inches) long.

Habitat:

Hiding out in my woodpile with the garter snakes (mixed woodland).

Notes:

Much paler than ones I've seen before and belly not as red, also larger, but I'm pretty sure it is a red-bellied snake. The only other snake it could be is a DeKay's brown snake but those are supposed to have black spots on the back.
