Hypoxylon fragiforme
These are saprophytic fungi growing on a dead log, seen discarded next to a forest road on slopes of Jura mountain range. The colony was huge, covering the exposed bark almost entirely. The fruitbodies are small and round, about 5-7mm in diameter, and they seem to be covered by brick red or rusty-brown dusty matter.
Observed on a dead and discarded log, lying next to a forest road on lower slopes of Jura mountain range. Mixed forest, mainly oak, beech, spruce and fir.
1. Perithecia are localised just under the surface forming some sort of "pimples" on the surface, while the interior flesh is hard and black. This can be observed on my previous spottings here: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/15... and https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/19...
