Five-Spot Burnet

Zygaena Trifolii

Distinctive day-flying moth with red hindwings and five red spots on metallic greenish blue forewings. It flies between July and August.

Widespread in Ireland. Likes damp meadows.

Saw it in the mudflat vegetation (not long after the tide receded) of the nature reserve on a sunny afternoon. The flower is a White Clover, I think.
