Green June Beetle

Cotinis nitida

Description:

Emerald green beetle approximately 3/4" long.

Habitat:

Their habitat extends from Maine to Georgia, and as far west as Kansas.

Notes:

We found this one floating in our pool. Haley and Wyatt scooped it out and put it on dry land. When we first put it on dry land it pulled it's head and legs under it's shell almost like a turtle would do. It waited until it felt safe to come back out.
