Flower of Smooth Luffa (चिकनी तोरई का फूल)

Luffa aegyptiaca or Luffa cylindrica

Habitat:

It is native to northern Africa, but is now found in many tropical and subtropical areas of the world. I found it in a field of village Charubeta, Khatima, Uttarakhand, India.

Notes:

1. Young fruit of it can be eaten as a vegetable. 2. Other common name is Sponge gourd. Name in Hindi is Toraee ( तोरई ). 3. Also see http://www.uniprot.org/taxonomy/3670
