Beaver dens are much more common now than in the recent past due to very limited trapping being done.In some parts of the Midwest they are actually being a bit of a nuisance in damaging trees in in and around park lakes and camping areas.
I saw it while on vacation in rhode island at Eisenhower lake. I asked the people working there and it is around year long
