Rock Squirrel

Spermophilus varietgatus

Description:

Usually quite shy, the Rock Squirrel typically runs and hides from approaching humans. Not sure why this little guy was feeling so brave, or maybe he just wanted his picture taken. Either way, I had a great time hanging out with him.

Habitat:

Rocky desert mountain area - scrubby with small trees and cactus
