Rocky Mountain Mule Deer

Odocoileus hemionus hemionus

Habitat:

Only found on the western Great Plains, in the Rocky Mountains, in the United States southwest, and on the West Coast of North America. Mule deer have also been introduced to Argentina and Kauai, Hawaii. Prefer open grasslands and perk-lands, or forest edge ecosystems, but can range from desert scrub land in the south to boreal forests and sub-arctic woodlands in north.

Notes:

This buck was waiting in the bushes for people to move so that it could cross the paved path. As soon as he saw a brake, he jumped across and ran off. There were a 3 bucks and a couple of does seen at this park during my visit. All pretty tame and close to people.
