Flamboyant Cuttlefish

Metasepia pfefferi

Relatively small compared to other cuttlefish and adults will "walk" on the sandy bottom using modified arms and mantle flaps. Watching a flamboyant cuttlefish is such a great experience. It displays vibrant colors and because it has toxic flesh to protect it from predators you can get close and observe them easily...if you can find them.

Sandy bottoms around coral reefs.
