They have the most amazing call: especially when a pair is calling to each other. It sounds like a pack of fighting/howling coyotes. There is a pair on my property, although thankfully they generally only call on a clear new moon night: those are rare in Oregon

it was at a kind of bird sanctuary just south of Kobe Japan
