Coelidia olitoria
These two hoppers were together. I am not sure if they are the same species and may be the same as in a previous spotting from the same place: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/562...
Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.
This species is extremely variable and includes both the color patterns seen here as well as dark green and browns. Males have the banding on the wings seen in the individual on the left. There are two subspecies and an intermediate "form" reported. While I couldn't find a report for occurrence in Mexico, it does occur in Florida and a remarkable number of insects in Florida also occur in Chiapas (and Veracruz and Tabasco).

Thank you ForestDragon, I spent a day reviewing this and I think you are probably right. I couldn't find any listing for Mexico but since it occurs in Florida I feel it could also occur on our side of the Gulf. I also found a comparison of the measurements between the antennae and the ocelli that fit these specimens.

Hi Lauren, I just happened to revisit my favorites and saw these beauties. They look very much like Coelidia olitoria. This species does come in both colors you have represented here. The only thing is that I don't know if they occur in Mexico.
