Little Green Bee-eater

Merops orientalis

Description:

Slender bird with feathers in all hues of green. Rust coloured crown. Pointed black bill. Usually always in a flock. You should see it thrash a captured bee (to get the sting out.)

Habitat:

A very welcome and much awaited winter migrant (it did not come last year)...a little early maybe this year but very happy to spot it on electrical wire near a large lake-sized pond in the residential colony where I live.
