Vermillion Flycatcher (male)

Description:

The male pictured here is a brillant colored small bird. It is dark-gray or black on the back, wings and tail. It also has a a band of black that goes from the base of the beak on each side back down the neck to join the black on the back. The rest is bright vermilion colored.

Habitat:

This bird was found in a deserted lot in the very north of Quito, Ecuador (2,850 masl).
