Because this animal has smooth rather than spiny arms, I would think it is one of the serpent stars.

Hello. Brittle stars are invertebrates, members of the (phylum) Echinodermata along with starfish, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, sand dollars and others. I will move it from fish to the "other" category. Cool spotting.

We have a similar lighter brittle star here in the Indian River.

Thank you, Ashish....my guess would be that it is some type of starfish...I was on a snorkling trip to mysterious Cana Island, where some of the famous large spheres from pre-Columbian times are found...
