Eastern Olivaceous warbler

Iduna pallida

Description:

Small bird size of sparrow or slightly smaller; more slender and elongated. Drab, predominantly grey to olive green colors, with pale underparts. Very nervous or lively bird, fast moving - a nightmare to photograph...

Habitat:

Here observed in a tree of our host house in Birak, Wadi Fira region of Chad - Birak is the closest urban zone to Sudan (Darfur) border. This town is situated in a semi desertic sub-Saharan belt, and the town is rather well wooded - this warbler prefers the arid and semi-arid open woodland.

Notes:

Previously placed in "Old World warbler" family Sylviidae, under the appellation of Hippolais pallida. Today this was changed and the Eastern Olivaceous Warbler s classified in genus Iduna, or tree warbler in family Acrocephalidae.
