Bromiliad

Description:

Heavy deep green or sometimes greyish green leaves with a bracket of brilliant flowers coming out of the center. There is a great many varieties.

Habitat:

They grow well in the shade in Florida in pots or in the ground. Their leaves are made to catch the rain that falls.

Notes:

This is a plant in the school yard at Laurel/Nokomis school.
