Aspidomorpha sp.
Cassidinae
Village garden in foothills of Cyclops Mountains.
This tortoise shell beetle hitch-hiked to our place in a bag of cassava root brought from a village garden. Note this beetle is just under the size of a US dime coin, i.e. <18 mm. Coordinate position uncertain.
That looks so cool! Almost seethrough in patches. Wow, really unnusual (to me!)
I think you might have a Golden Tortoise beetle (Aspidomorpha sanctaecrucis), which has dulled down its color - they can change color very rapidly when disturbed by adding or removing liquid from immediately under their shell.
