Treecreeper

Certhia sp.

Description:

Small bird that climbs a tree vertically circling its trunk. Brown mostly. Pointed beak.

Habitat:

There was this tall tree far in the valley...a tree with lichen mustaches and something moving up the sides (last shot). I shot almost blind because the bird was moving very fast around the trunk in a circular manner. The second shot is actually a cropped version of the first shot. Before I could take a deep breath (I was holding it in order to focus without shaking my camera :)....it had disappeared in the leaves on top. My photographer friends said according to the guide books it would circle down again...the bird had not read the book so it simply DIVED down into the valley from top of the tree. We never saw it again.

Notes:

Either C.discolor or C. nipalensis. I think it is Brown-throated Treecreeper C. discolor.
