Wild Balsam Apple

Momordica charantia

Description:

Invasive vine that covers quickly. My neighbors one year were unable to get in their front door because this vine had closed off the entrance. The vine has a 5 leave cluster, then yellow flowers, then orange bulb like pods that open and scatter bright red seeds.

Habitat:

Found in a yard belonging to an empty house. I think Birds may inadvertedly carry the seeds to our yards. Try always to pull the vine before the seed pods start to break open.
