Thanks for the link!

I wish Kuwait had a few more projects on how to solve their trash & pollution problems as well :/

Definitely looks like you got it. Glassworts are one of the new "plants for a future". They're cultivated as a vegetable and are being investigated for their bioremediation qualities, like desalinization and biofuel. There's even a project in Kuwait to see if Salicornia could remove enough salt from soils to open them up for cultivation: http://idosi.org/wasj/wasj6%288%29/4.pdf...

Here's one of them, native to Kuwait. It does look a bit different.
The above looks thicker...

Well, perhaps I can at least point you in the right direction for this plant. It looks very much like a species of Salicornia, which is a plant which can grow in very salty conditions. You can pretty much find some species growing worldwide, but this doesn't quite look like the species I'm familiar with. http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symb...

I wish I knew more about middle eastern plants. I'm enjoying seeing all these plants that are obviously adapted for very harsh conditions. Hope you get I.D.s for them, I'd like to know what they are too!
