Brown-throated sloth going to the bathroom

Description:

The brown-throated sloth is probably the most well-known of all the sloths. They can weigh between 2.3 and 6.5kg and are approximately 40-69cm (16 to 27 inches) from nose to tail. They have grey/brown and white coloring with a white forehead. Distribution ranges from Honduras all the way down to Peru and Bolivia, co-existing in some areas with the Hoffmann’s two-fingered sloth. I observed this individual going down a liana, in the direction of floating vegetation, and it was clear that he did it to defecate, something that they usually do on the forest floor. It is probable that the pressure of the water helps them with an easy evacuation of the feces. On another occasion he had observed something similar but the individual was attacked and eaten by a crocodile. It was impressive to see the aquatic plants that adhered to the fur of the sloth.
