Northern Flicker

Colaptes auratus

Description:

About the size of a North American Cardinal. It has a thin pointed beak. Body was tan with black horizontal bars. Red patch on back of head and black patch on breast. It seemed to be sticking its beak in the ground, I’m guessing to find bugs.

Notes:

Unfortunately these pics were taken from the inside of a screened window so they are not the best. The birds would fly away as soon as soon as I would open the door so this was the best shot I could get.

Do you have a way of adjusting the color? More people would see it.
