Description:

It is a vine that is considered as a weed here in Philippines but all parts of this plant is edible as well. It has a bitter taste. The fruit is lighter in flavor than its cultivated counterpart. The fruit has a rounded shape and pointed ends and a surface covered with jagged, triangular "teeth" and ridges.

Notes:

Tablets of bitter melon extract are sold in the Philippines as a food supplement for diabetes and exported to many countries.
