Little collared Bat

Myoncteris torquata

Description:

small bat, about 8" across, appeared to be injured

Habitat:

rainforest

Notes:

I spotted this bat on the forest floor while hiking in Lope National Park. It's the last place I expected to see a bat! It was appeared injured but I didn't see anything noticeably wrong with it. It did not move when we approached closely. I felt sorry for it but we didn't know what to do.

You're right, I guess I could have put it on a bush, but I don't think it could fly. It's wing was injured, so I'm not sure if anything I did would help it for long. It was sad to see.

Poor little bat.. I would have picked it up and put it one a tree or bush! I have found a couple after a Cyclone that fall on the ground and could not get up again! All they needed was a little help!

Alice I still see the picture there. I've taken your advice and lightened it up and added it again. Thanks.

Dan I took off your picture because I could not see it and it is a beautiful picture lightened. If you want to see it, I could send it to you. (if you have an address)
