Platycixius calvus
I had no idea this this is a rare Planthopper! Andy Hamilton was able to ID this hopper and is apparently rare! "The flattened head and reticulate wing tips are distinctive. This is thought to be only species in its genus, and is known from very few localities. Of the 6 known specimens, two were taken on yucca (probably the specimens from AZ), suggesting that there are actually more than one species." Black and gray Planthopper about 4 mm long. The wings are patterned on the bottom. Only shot before it ran off.

Make that, NOW on the hunt :)
Thanks friends! I'm not on the hunt to capture one. Should be fun finding this little guy in an Oak forest! :)
COOL!
Great find Cindy!
Great finding, Cindy, congratulations.
Congratulations on such a rare spotting, Cindy! There's a name which I can't remember, for the only species in its genus -- very cool!
