I'm sorry, I thought that the map was closer to Massachusetts. I guess I didn't look close enough. Whoops! Then I definitely think its the Laughing Gull.

Laughing Gull seconded. Pretty much the only dark-headed gull found around the southeast this time of year.

It would be rare to have Franklin's gull in that location wouldn't it? Also if you look at the black cap on the right bird, it extends further back on the head than the typical Franklin's Gull. I would call it Laughing Gull for these reasons. Kathleen

Either of them could be right, I was just giving another option...
I was just at OCNJ on Wednesday and I saw hundreds of these guys! They kept attacking my friend because she had food :)

I've tried my Luck via search, but I can't find one for the US that fits.

The Brown-hooded Gull is only in South America and the Black-headed Gull over in Europe (that one doesn't have such dark wings anyway).

Hope you get some help on these fellows :)
