Nevada Bumblebee

Bombus nevadaensis

Description:

Large alpine bumblebee, vigorously harvesting from alpine flowers.

Habitat:

Found at 12,700ft elevation in central Colorado Rocky Mountains. Location was well above treeline, with sparse alpine plants in full bloom. This was the only individual I saw in the area.

Notes:

Likely Bombus nevadaensis, though I could be wrong.
