Bloody Nosed Beetle

Description:

A lumbering, flightless leaf beetle, often seen plodding across paths or through grass. When disturbed exudes a drop of red, blood like fluid from mouth.

Habitat:

Widespread and fairly common in Ireland. Saw this one in the sand dunes.
