This may be a member of the Ganoderma lucidum complex, (related to) a Lingzhi mushroom ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingzhi_mus... ).
Observed growing in a large semi-urban yard/garden adjacent to a disturbed remnant patch of forest.
