Oh O.K., Amur Cork: http://www.cirrusimage.com/tree_Amur_cor.... I just saw one of those in someone's yard and had a heck of a time ID'ing it.
I would think it is out of range for pecan. There weren't any nuts that I could see. A grounds dept. employee said it was a "cork tree" but that didn't make any sense to me.
Pecan or butternut. Pecans have flaky bark, I think? Any fruit visible on this tree? http://www.cas.vanderbilt.edu/bioimages/...
