Hi Rob ,I see what you mean .Some of these weevils have a snout that faces downwards rather than protruding forward ,it could be that or some completely different species.The rest of the beetle looks right though,best to see what some of the experts have to say.

Hi Paul, thanks for the imput, I wasn't able to get a clear shot of the head, added one more image, can see definitely no snout.

It looks like a Red Palm weevil ,one of the many sub-species from the far east ,but I can't see the characteristic snout on these shots.It could just be the angles.
