I have sugarcane in my backyard and everywhere around here.. just this morning I uploaded some photos of Boof eating sugarcane.. We all love it in this family. In India you get freshly pressed Juice everywhere. It is suppose to be good to cleanse the liver.. Here they just make BUNDY RUM!!

Wow Auntnance! To have it right in your backyard. When we were kids we just used to peel it off with our teeth, I like sugarcane juice with ginger in it!

Have sugarcane growing in the yard. And as kids we used to find it in the woods. Refreshing if someone had a good pocket knife.

Have you eaten sugarcane?

Need to have two knives or at least one and a sharp stick about a foot long and as thick as a pencil. Carefully lance the fig and cut with knife. Place on flat surface gingerly as so the thorns are not broken up and forced into the fruit. Cut ends off with knife and then cut a slit the long way. Peal the skin on either side as far as U can and remove the meat of the fruit with your hand. The stick should be removed once you have the one side pealed and should be used to hold that side down as you peel the other side! Sounds like a lot but it takes just a few seconds once you got it down!!
Enjoy!!
