Lined Butterflyfish

Chaetodon lineolatus

Description:

The largest Butterflyfish, can grow to 30cm. The bigger of these two closer to 20cm. Predominately white body with vertical black lines, a curved black and yellow band from the middle of the back to the base of the anal fin, a wide black eye bar enclosing a white spot on the nape and yellow tail, dorsal and anal fins.

Habitat:

Found on shallow reef between 1 - 3m deep off the coast of Noumea city in New Caledonia. Globally very widespread from East Africa through the Indo Pacific to Hawaii.
