A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Pycnonotus cafer
Brown bird with black, crested head, about six inches long, less tail feathers, and a characteristic red vent.
Suburban area on a mesic, tropical, insular lowland plateau.
Spotted by a motion-sensing camera in my back yard. The uploaded images are actually two separate spottings, a couple of hours apart. This species is invasive in Hawaii.
