Narrow-Bordered Five-Spot Burnet

Zygaena lonicerae

Description:

This day-flying moth from the Zyganidae family is found in most of Europe. It has a wingspan of 30-46 mm. The adults have 5 spots on the forewings and a bluish tinge to the forewings and the antennae.

Habitat:

Spotted in an alpine meadow. The flower is Knautia arvensis, the field scabious.

Notes:

The forewing of the Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet is longer and more pointed than that of the Five-spot Burnet (Zygaena trifolii), hence my choice of ID. Let me know if you disagree as this is quite tricky!

@Ed von Ems, thanks for your ID suggestion. In my notes you'll see that I hesitated between Zygaena lonicerae and Zygaena trifolii. Can you tell me your reasons for favouring trifolii? Would love to know!

Ashish, I'm not sure of the resemblance with the flagship moth you're linking to. To start with this one has blackish-blue antennae and the moth on your link has orange antennae.
