Bat Face, St Peter Plant

Cuphea llavea

Description:

This bush has tiny red flowers with purple leaves. Flowers are about 1cm (1/4 to 1/2 inch) in size. Plant is 90cm wide (3 ft) and It is not hardy in my zone 7 but is thriving in the heat of the summer. I do not know if it will reseed or come back from the roots next year. Some non-hardy plants do come back in my yard because I heavily mulch (4-6 inches of pine bark) each fall.

Habitat:

Notes:

Scientific Name: Cuphea llavea Synonym: Cuphea barbigera, Parsonsia llavea Family: Lythraceae
