Hypomyces lactifluorum
The lobster mushroom is actually a fungus that parasitizes a host mushroom. The gills become filled in(superficially like a chanterelle) and the top of the cap warty. The host mushrooms may only be marginally edible, but the lobster is considered a choice(and safe) edible

I found a large cluster in my own yard in an area where we have them every year. They make a great mushroom soup. Don't let over dry during cooking
