Thanks all! It does look super similar to that of a coral snake. :)

This is actually really interesting. The kingsnakes have evolved to mimic coral snakes despite existing out of eachothers range because one of the kingsnakes predators (a bird of prey) migrates from south and central to north America. One of those interesting facts that stuck with me from evolution lessons :)

To the best of my knowledge, there are no coral snakes in California.
