Nymphaea odorata
Floating, white flowers with many petals and long, yellow stamens. The plant is rooted from rhizomes, which give rise to smooth floating leaves that are covered with a waxy upper coating, which is water-repellent.
Spotted very early in the morning in a large pond next to a mixed forest.
The flowers open each day and close again at night. Once the flowers get pollinated, the developing fruit gets pulled back underwater for maturation.
