Dragonfly Nymph

Tan-ish yellow with red accents. Eyes are a bright orange-yellow color. The body is still pretty stout, so I would assume that it's still fairly early in its life cycle. It is sitting on a standard size microscope slide as that was all I had to set him on when I found him in one of my collection jars. He was found in a large clump of DOC (Dissolved Organic Carbon) on the surface of the pond.

Fairly Eutrophic freshwater Pond with some algae cover.

Found this little guy in one of my collection jars. I'm doing a comparison of algal species between two freshwater ponds and have been finding a whole lot more than algae in my collection jars. It's a good thing though.

No problem Jim! I'm following you as well. I'll post some more spottings as soon as school dies down. I have quite a few stashed away in my pictures..
