Agkistrodon contortrix mokasen
This was a small specimen, approximately 28 - 36 cm. long, curled up in a sunny spot on a cool Spring day.
Mixed hardwood, mesophytic forest floor.
Based upon the location, I am identifying this as the A. contortrix mokasen subspecies.

Found this while hunting for mushrooms and I almost did not see it among the leaf litter.
